Fluorosilicone Extrusions for Hostile Environments

Gaskets, sealing components, and intricate profiles, custom extruded from high-performance fluorosilicone, are offered by Pelmor® Laboratories for use in hostile environments.

The extruded products withstand extreme temperatures of 150 ° to +600° F; resist attack by over 750 corrosive chemicals and liquids, including oil, gasoline, hydraulic fluids, hydrocarbon solvents, and sulfuric acid; and counter the effects of thermal cycling.

Other properties include: hardness of 20-80 Shore A; maximum tensile strength of 1500 psi; good compression set and resilience; resistance to ozone, sunlight, UV radiation, salt spray, and fungal growth.

Ideal applications include electrical, automotive, aerospace, chemical processing, pulp and paper processing, and other industrial uses involving aggressive environments.

Fluorosilicones are among a class of exotic elastomers that are finding increased use today because of their high-performance properties. Compared with traditional elastomers such as silicone, urethane, and nitrile, fluorosilicones and other advanced elastomers are costly and require meticulous care in processing in order to minimize waste. Because of the cost and the specialized applications in which they are used, Pelmor® is one of the few rubber products manufacturers who specialize in the custom extrusion and molding of these advanced polymers.
